Say no to the cubicle and enjoy life under the sun as a PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor! If you are interested in a career change, the PADI Instructor Development Course (IDC) will allow you to share your passion for the ocean with others while doing what you love. PADI INSTRUCTOR

Becoming a PADI Instructor is not only about passing the Instructor Examination and achieving the certification; our goal is to equip you with the knowledge, dive skills and teaching experience required to succeed as a PADI Instructor. Our IDC training schedule has been designed by our Platinum PADI Course Directors Holly Macleod and Doug Hoy who have decades of experience mentoring IDC candidates. In addition to the standard IDC curriculum we incorporate several additional workshops that will prepare you for teaching in realistic scenarios and conditions. The Blue Marlin IDC is designed to give our candidates the practical skills and confidence to succeed with a career in the diving industry.

Our monthly IDC’s take place at Blue Marlin Trawangan and are run over a 20 day schedule that also includes 3 day of free instructor preparation training, 2 free instructor specialty ratings and EFR instructor training. This is followed by a 2 day Instructor Exam conducted here on the island.

WHAT IS INCLUDED

Our IDC candidates are invited for up to 2 weeks of free fun diving before the IDC and if you prefer you can also use this time to help out or shadow courses. We include equipment rental throughout your time with us (the only exceptions to this are a dive computer, SMB, compass and dive knife). Lunch during the IDC is free of charge as are water refills and of course you will receive an IDC T shirt!

COURSE EXTRAS

In addition to the standard IDC program, we’ll throw in the PADI Enriched Air Instructor Course and PADI Oxygen Provider Instructor Specialty for free (a value of over USD 350).

MSDT PREP

After the IDC program, make yourself more employable by learning how to teach 5 different specialities and become a Master SCUBA Diver Trainer once you certified 25 students.

PRE-IDC PREP

Whether you’ve just finished your Divemaster course or haven’t been around dive centres for a while, it‘s always good to revise topics that will be covered during the IDC. For this reason, during this preparation day, we will go through all the subjects you need to review in order to have the best start possible. Moreover, our course director will be able to evaluate your knowledge and dive skills in a stress-free environment and can advise on your personal focus points for the course.

MOCK INSTRUCTOR EXAMINATION

In addition to the standard IDC, we will ensure that all candidates are fully prepared for their Instructor Examination by holding a Mock I.E. In this two-day simulation, learn exactly what to expect, find your personal focus areas and shake off some nerves.

THE INSTRUCTOR EXAMINATION

The IDC culminates in the Instructor Examination (IE): a two-day evaluative program that tests each instructor candidate’s teaching abilities, comprehension of dive theory, skill demonstration quality, understanding of the PADI System as well as both attitude and professionalism. PADI IEs are standardised and conducted by specially trained PADI Instructor Examiners. We offer our IDC as a 100% GUARANTEED PASS. This means that if you do not pass the exam, we’ll offer your subsequent IDC at no additional charge.
