Technical Diving International (TDI) was formed in 1994 by some of diving’s most experienced instructors. The aim was to bring technical diving applications to a wider audience. TDI’s training materials have become known as the best in the industry, with the most professional resources available. Most importantly, they have the best safety record of all training agencies and have become the largest, specialised dive agency in the world.
TDI instructors maintain the highest levels of professionalism, standards and quality instruction. This ensures that certification is earned so that students walk away proud and competent technical divers.
Blue Marlin Tech have been a TDI technical facility for over 18 years and wholeheartedly agree with their philosophy. We currently employ two instructor trainers, two technical instructors and 1 technical guide.
Course Components:
The TDI Intro to Tech course is the perfect course for divers who have
heard about technical diving and want to find out more about this exciting branch of advanced recreational diving.
This course walks students through the special techniques, planning procedures and skills that set technical diving apart from traditional sport diving. It will show them how to improve their dive planning methods, in-water skills and streamline their existing gear configuration, in a non-threatening and fun learning environment. The specific skills this course will highlight are:

The TDI Sidemount course is perfect for divers who want to become more skilled and proficient with different equipment configurations. You will learn how to safely use Sidemount primary cylinders as an alternative to the traditional
back mounted method. This is a great course by itself, but it can also be taught in conjunction with other TDI open circuit specialties.
During the course, students will learn specific techniques required for Sidemount cylinders, as well as the specific procedures and skills necessary for the Sidemount set up including equipment considerations, gas management,
attaching Sidemount cylinders, trim and buoyancy, finning techniques, deployment of a surface marker and the different water entries.
Maximum Depth: Depth depending on other certifications.
Prerequisite:
Course Duration:
3 days, 4 dives.
Additional Course Information:
The Sidemount course can be combined with other TDI courses.
Equipment rental:

During this course, you will learn the benefits, hazards and proper procedures for diving
with Enriched Air Nitrox up to 40%. Your TDI Instructor will also cover:
Extended bottom times, shorter surface intervals and a less tiring dives are all good reasons to take part in the basic nitrox course.
Maximum Depth: Up to 40 metres depending on other certifications.
Prerequisite:
Course Duration:
5 hours depending on course options.
Additional Course Information:
This course can be combined with Advanced Nitrox.
Course Components:
The TDI Advanced Nitrox Course qualifies divers to use enriched air Nitrox
from 21% through to Nitrox 100% within your current certification level
to a maximum depth of 40 metres/130 feet during dives that do not require staged decompression.
Often taught together with the Decompression Procedures course, this is the foundation of your technical diving career when you choose the classic technical divers Twin Tank or Sidemount option. Advanced Nitrox is also a great course for those wanting to extend their bottom times in shallower depths such as scientific diver, and a must for Semi-Closed Rebreather (SCR)or Closed-Circuit Rebreather (CCR) divers.
Students will use the TDI Advanced Nitrox Diving manual for this course. The manual explains the complex information that Advanced Nitrox divers need to know in an easy to understand practical manner.

TDI Extended Range teaches divers proper techniques for using compressed air as a breathing gas with a maximum depth of 55m. This is an extremely useful course to teach divers how to access depths deeper than 40m without access to
helium.
During the course a variety of topics and skills would be covered, including equipment requirements and configuration, decompression options, use and deployment of surface markers, buddy rescue and narcosis checks and management.
Upon successful completion of the course, divers will be certified to plan and execute deep
air decompression dives to a maximum depth of 55m with the use of up to two
decompression/travel gases.

As your motivation to explore progresses you will find that you may want to go deeper to dive that wreck
that is part of history or that cave system that you have read so much about. One of the major limiting
factors of going deeper is narcosis; the TDI Trimix Diver course provides the training required to competently
and safely utilize breathing gases containing helium for dives that require staged decompression and
how to minimize the effects of narcosis by adding helium to offset the nitrogen in your breathing gas.
Students must show exemplary in water skills and show good mental and physical fitness.
